Antline switchback LED bulbs and load resistors

Switchback bulbs glow white as parking or running lights and switch to amber when you signal. Pair LED turn bulbs with load resistors and the fast-blink hyper flash goes away.

How switchback LED bulbs work

A switchback bulb uses both filaments of a dual-function socket: the low-power circuit lights it white, the turn-signal circuit switches it to flashing amber. The result is a clean white running light that still signals in amber. Antline switchbacks come in 3157, 1157 and 7443 bases with 16 high-power 3030 chips.

They only work in dual-function sockets — usually the front turn signals with a parking-light function. In a single-function socket the bulb shows only one colour.

Fixing hyper flash with load resistors

  • One 50W 6Ω resistor per LED turn bulb, wired in parallel.
  • Splice taps are included; tap the signal wire and ground.
  • Mount the resistor on metal: it runs as hot as a halogen bulb.
  • An LED flasher relay is an alternative on some cars.

Switchback & Turn: questions

Will switchbacks hyper flash?

Like any LED turn bulb, they may; add a resistor if your car blinks fast.

Where do switchbacks go?

Front turn signals with parking-light function, on most trucks and SUVs.

Do resistors get hot?

Yes, very. Mount them on bare metal away from plastic and wiring.
